The New York City Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) is the department of the Government of New York City〔New York City Charter § 2201; "There shall be a department of consumer affairs, the head of which shall be the commissioner of consumer affairs."〕 responsible for enforcing the city's consumer protection laws, paid sick leave law, licensing businesses, dealing with consumer complaints, and participating in consumer education. Its regulations are compiled in title 6 of the ''New York City Rules''. Bill de Blasio appointed Julie Menin, the currect commissoner.〔New York City Department of Consumer Affairs website.〕 ==History== The duties were performed by the Commissioner of Public Markets until 1968. Bess Myerson was appointed by mayor John Lindsay as the first commissioner of the renamed agency in 1969.
